Maribyrnong Kindergarten acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. We also acknowledge our gratitude that we share this land today, our sorrow for some of the costs of that sharing, and our hope and belief that we can move to a place of equity, justice and partnership together.
Maribyrnong is an anglicised version of the Aboriginal term ‘Mirring-gnay-bir-nong’, which translates as ‘I can hear a ringtail possum’.
Maribyrnong Kindergarten provides a play based, child centred curriculum in a challenging, nurturing and exciting learning environment.
Bush Kinder
Bush kinder is an integral part of the kindergarten’s curriculum and each child will attend one session per week at the bush kinder site. Our bush kinder program provides opportunities to experience nature and its elements across the seasons, recognising the place the bush has in Australia and the significance of the land in Indigenous Australian culture. Whatever the weather, children are encouraged to take the lead in playing, exploring and learning in a natural environment.
National Quality Framework
Maribyrnong Kindergarten was assessed in August 2022 and we are very proud of our EXCEEDING rating.
Community
We are a community, non-profit kinder that is run by a committee of parents/volunteers called the committee of management. Through the committee, members are given the opportunity to have a say, be involved in the collaborative running of the kindergarten and play an active role in the wider kinder community.
Maribyrnong Kindergarten acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government.
